“Touch the Wall,” a film documenting Missy Franklin‘s journey to the London Olympics, will debut Nov. 15 at the Denver Film Festival.Franklin, who won five medals and four golds in 2012, trained with 2004 and 2008 Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce in the run-up to the London Games. They were part of Todd Schmitz‘s training group in Colorado, with many more high school swimmers.Joyce, a four-time Olympic relay silver medalist, also made the London Olympic team and did not reach the semifinals of her only event, the 50m freestyle. The film follows the different stories of Franklin and Joyce, who are separated by nine years. Joyce moved from Colorado to North Carolina to train shortly before the 2012 Olympic Trials. The above trailer was recently released. Here’s an earlier trailer:Update: Here’s another trailer posted Wednesday.
“Touch the Wall” was the first of the festival’s two red-carpet matinees. The premiere had more attendees than Wednesday’s opening night affair. And not merely because the temperature had risen slightly — Franklin is a hometown hero, so the locals turned out.
